Maker Space Waiver

The Ingersoll Branch Makerspace is available to all Oxford County Library members who meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold an Oxford County Library card in good standing.
  2. The minimum age to use the MakerSpace *with* adult accompaniment is 9 years old.
  3. The minimum age to use the MakerSpace *without* adult accompaniment is 14 years old.
  4. Users who are accompanying a child between the ages 9-13 years old will be considered the main user of equipment and are responsible for the use of the equipment by the child under their care.
  5. Completion of the Makerspace Equipment Waiver.
  6. 3D prints are limited to 4 hours, and must be completed during library open hours.

Policies and Guidelines (please read carefully)

  • I agree to comply with the following Oxford County Library policies and guidelines:
  • I understand that Library staff are not experts, they will assist as much as they can so both staff and users can learn together.
  • I understand that staff can help source and print designs, but cannot assist with the creation of designs.
  • I accept full responsibility for the space, equipment and furniture in the Makerspace during my sessions.
  • I understand that no food or drink is allowed in the MakerSpace.
  • I understand that I am responsible for any costs relating to repairs, replacement, or cleaning of the space if it is damaged, or equipment is missing or damaged.
  • I understand that my library privileges may be suspended until the library is reimbursed for any costs relating to repairs, replacement, or cleaning of the space if it is damaged, or equipment is missing or damaged.
  • I understand that the Makerspace computer is reserved for digital media and 3D printing projects, and is not available for general use (i.e. email, browsing, etc.).
  • I understand that I am responsible for saving any work I wish to preserve to my own external device. Any work saved on library equipment will be deleted.
  • I understand that Oxford County Library is not responsible for the loss of data/information or damage to personal devices or equipment.
  • I understand that Oxford County Library has the right to refuse any 3D print request.
  • I understand that Oxford County Library is not liable for the efficacy, use and/or misuse of 3D prints.
  • I understand that the MakerSpace may be used for lawful purposes only and cannot be used to create content that is:
  • Prohibited by provincial or federal law.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others;
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment;
  • In violation of another’s intellectual property rights; for example, the 3D printers and scanners may not be used to reproduce materials subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.
  • As per the Internet Access and Technology  Policy, any person violating Library rules for technology use risks suspension of Library privileges, exclusion from the Library for a period of time, banning and/or prosecution
  • I understand that any fees accrued while using the Makerspace must be paid in full, and projects may be withheld if payment is not made in accordance to the Makerspace Fee Schedule. 
  • Only library materials may be used for 3D printing and Cricut designs.
